In this environment, the Application Engineer for Laser Welding and Cutting plays a key role.
You are not just supporting production - you are the expert who ensures processes run flawlessly, quality remains uncompromised, and new technologies are successfully brought to life.
Key responsibilities:
Application Engineer is part of the production engineering organization and as the name entitles should be the production / product expert for laserwelding and laser cutting. Shortly, this means:
- Troubleshooting production issues:
- Test fails
- Quality rejects
- Collaborate closely together with manufacturing engineering, develop the programs and process for NPI projects
- Take-over the project on proto phase
- Maintain Process / Manufacturing documentation
- Continuous improvement of the existing processes
Engineering & Manufacturing knowledge:
- Create and maintain production, assembly and test instructions
- Review and validate tooling designed by our engineering department
- Program and design manufacturing processes on Trumpf / Mazak machines
Analytical skills:
- Update Process / Manufacturing documentation:
- PFMEA
- ERP Routing
- Coscom – instructions
- Machine data
- Tooling data
- Packaging instructions and specifications
- Review and update the floor layout
- VSM
- People Flow
- Material Flow
- Manufacturing Flow
- Waste Flow
- Knowledge of different Problem-Solving methodologies and Problem-Solving skills
- Act as second line support on production issues
- Analyze VC (calculated lead time) and NC (actual lead time)
Soft (people) skills:
- Emotional intelligence Prioritization:
- Able to cope with multiple requests, at the same time, while keeping emotions and priorities balanced and under control
- Prioritize according to company goals
- Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering on finding potential continuous improvement projects and execute them according to plan
- Experience with different problem-solving methodologies
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and practices
- Green or Black belt in Lean Six Sigma is a plus
Main KPI’s:
- Quality: Work Instructions up-to-date and on time
- Quality: Process documentation up-to-date
- Cost: NC/VC ≤ 95%
- CCB completion on time
Background:
- Completed (minimum) HBO education, preferably in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a similar role with strong customer liaison experience.
- Experience in a production environment with high-tech products and complex assembly processes.
- Proficient in English, spoken and written and Dutch is an advantage.
